Ladies’ Competitions
This document contains information useful to captains concerning all the competitions and tournaments organsed by Etchinghill Golf Club. It exists to ensure that continuity is preserved year after year.
It will be updated whenever necessary.

Ladies Competition Entry Qualification
PLEASE NOTE. Beginning with the winter round of Club Knockout Competitions the qualification will be 3 cards including at least 2 from qualifying competitions within the previous 6 months. This qualification must be maintained throughout your participation. Supplementary cards may also be submitted, subject to the usual conditions of the Club.

Trophy, Medal and Stableford Competitions
Requirement Active Handicap. Red tees.
Entry fee for all competitions £5.
Medal and Stableford Competitions - £2.50 per player to club and £2.50 per player going towards prizes.
Trophy competitions don't get the usual prizes.  The winner gets a trophy and either a memento or voucher at the end of the year and runner up a memento or voucher at the end of the year.
Unless stated otherwise under any competition the above will apply.

ARC Trophy

Since 2018 this competition has been sub-divided into three: Mens/Ladies/Foxtrotters ARC trophies. There will be a prize given at Presentation Evening to the best lady/best man/best Foxtrotter. The overall winner of the competitions will receive the ARC trophy at Presentation Evening.
A player may enter more than once, but ONLY their FIRST score will count.

Entry fee (non standard) £5 (all the BHF Charity)
The first group will take a marker flag with them and leave on the course, marking the best final position.
Using stroke play take up to 72 strokes plus 75% of player’s handicap. eg Handicap 24 is 72 +18 = 90 strokes.
NOTE: The competition is over when a player has used all shots. The round may be completed.
If a player plays beyond the marker flag, move it to where the shot has finished and put name on marker.
If the ball is in the rough and beyond the marker flag place the marker flag on the fairway for all to see and add player’s name.
OR
If the final shot is on the green then place the marker flag on the green behind the ball and put name on marker.
However:
If a player plays below handicap and not used full allocation of shots, place the marker flag on the 18th green, write name on marker flag indicating number of strokes left to play.
In the case of a tie the players will be asked to tee off from the 1st hole on the Valley course. The winner will be decided by the longest drive
The last group to bring marker flag back to clubhouse.

Grandmothers’ Cup

To play in this competition players need to be a grandmother. Ladies qualify if they don’t have grandchildren but their partner does.

Summer Cup

This trophy was introduced in 2025 by Lady Captain, Caroline Fletcher, for ladies not eligible to play in the Grandmothers’ Cup. It takes place on the same day and runs as a concurrent competition. The two comps are drawn together.

Bunnies Cup

This trophy was introduced in 2013 by Lady Captain, Carolyn Sheldon, who donated the cup. To be played alongside the Platinum Trophy.

Platinum Trophy
Format Stableford. Over 70s only.
Handicaps Full. Maximum 32

This trophy was introduced in 2018 by Lady Captain, Pam Powell who donated the trophy.
To be played alongside The Bunnies Cup. Open to ladies 70 years and over. Participants can ONLY compete for one of the trophies. There will be a Stableford competition for those ineligible for either of the above. Please check ladies write their chosen competition (Bunnies/Platinum.Stableford) at the top of their score card BEFORE playing.

This trophy is to be played on a Fun Day on the Leas Course. The trophy was donated by Kate Mills and Jane Steatham in November 2019.
Random draw for the teams then Captain and Vice Captain do their own pairings and running order for the matches. Add up all wins and losses and the winner’s charity benefits from all the entry fees. A chance for the incoming Captain to start off their charity fund raising.

Ping Competition

LADY CAPTAIN COMPLETES THE ENTRY FORM
Prizes provided by Ping for 1st and 2nd placed pair. Best Stableford score is put forward for final at Gainsborough (home of Ping). Needs to be over 42pts usually to go through. At present all winners are responsible for their own costs.

Daily Mail Foursomes
Format Ladies Foursomes. It is an external competition with winners going forward to represent the club at further rounds, initially on a regional home and away basis.
Handicap Maximum joint index of 30. A player with a higher handicap can play but must use 30.0 as her handicap index. The two handicaps are combined and then halved. The handicap indexes apply not course handicaps.

R&A Coronation Foursomes

Handicap WHS Index 40 or under. Handicaps over 40 cannot be capped.

Format 5 clubs (one must be a putter)

KENT COMPETITIONS

Champion of Champions

Winner responsible for their caddy’s meal costs.
ENTRY TO BE DONE BY LADY CAPTAIN IN JANUARY via Kent Golf website. Confirmation will go to the entrant, ask them for receipt of monies paid for the Treasurer for re-imbursement.

Kent Country competition. Knock-out 3 a side matchplay handicap tournament with one player from each of the following handicap bands (13-20), (21-29) and 30-36). Handicap allowance is full difference in handicaps. Green fees: if a green fee has to be paid it will be shared. Caddies can give advice and may go to the green to attend the flag but they must be members of a club affiliated to the County.See KCLGA website for rules.
